Under a company's stock plan, a retirement age that can confer special treatment of a grant, such as full or partial acceleration of any unvested portions, in certain circumstances. For example, the stock plan may provide that if you retire after you turn 55 and have given 20 years of service at the time of retirement, the vesting of your restricted stock and stock option grants will be accelerated, giving you additional time to exercise your options after leaving the company.
