T+3

An obsolete notation indicating the settlement date for securities transactions such as a stock sale. The settlement period is now two business days (i.e. T+2) for transactions on or after September 5, 2017. Before it was superseded by T+2, the notation T+3 referred to the obligation in the brokerage business to settle securities trades by the third business day after the trade date.
