Listed Option

Differing from an employee stock option, a listed option is a contract giving the buyer the right to sell or buy a security at a particular price by a specified date. Also called exchange-traded options, listed options are sold on registered exchanges, such as the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Compare the term OTC option.

For a comparison of exchange-traded options to employee stock options, see a blog commentary by the firm Wealthfront.
