Commonly called a cap table, this shows the various amounts of the different types of securities that are outstanding (e.g. common stock, preferred stock, stock options, warrants) and the amounts issued by a company. It can also show the amount of outside investment, its sources, and the type of securities given for the investment. It is helpful to review a capitalization table to evaluate a stock or option grant in a pre-IPO company. It can help you understand the percentage of your interest in the company before any later dilution.
