Service-Based Vesting
A type of vesting in which rights to the stock options or stock grant are based on the length of time worked at the company (e.g., the stock vests over four years of employment at 25% per year). Once you have reached this period of continued employment, the grant is vested. This compares to performance vesting with performance-based awards that depend on your meeting certain targets the company sets.
