Termination

The end of employment at a company. Depending on a stock plan's terms, the definition and impact of termination can vary according to the reason for leaving the company (e.g. quitting for a new job, being fired, retiring, death, disability). For details, see the section on termination on this website.

In some stock plans, termination can also mean the forfeiture of outstanding stock grants or the expiration of stock options or stock appreciation rights.
