CP2000 Notice

An IRS notice sent when income or payment information received from a third party doesn't match the information you reported on your tax return. For example, the information you report on your Form 1040 tax return may not match what was reported by your broker on Form 1099-B or by your company on Form W-2.

For details on whether you need to file an amended tax return (Form 1040X) in response to a CP2000 notice, see related FAQs for stock options and restricted stock/RSUs.
